Dr. R. Arzu Ünal (2022-)

Dr. Arzu Ünal completed her BA in Cultural Anthropology at Yeditepe University and her MA in Sociology at Boğaziçi University. She obtained her PhD in Cultural Anthropology at University of Amsterdam in 2013. Following a post-doctoral position at the University of Amsterdam, she worked as a lecturer in the Cultural Studies Program at Sabancı University and the Department of Sociology at Boğaziçi University. She has published on Muslim fashions and material culture in Europe and family in Turkey. Dr. Ünal’s main research areas are gender and sexuality studies, migration studies, Islam and cultural practices.

Dr. Rivka Bihar Waldman (2021-2022)

Dr. Rivka Bihar Waldman obtained her BA and PhD in Spanish Language and Literature at Istanbul University, and her MA in Comparative Literature at Högskolan Dalarna, Sweden. Her research interests are Spanish and Latin-American Literature, second foreign language teaching, and literary and cultural productions of the Jewish Community in Istanbul. Her works appeared in both national and international peer-reviewed journals, and she has participated in many national and international conferences. Dr. Bihar Waldman is also a professional translator and tutor.

Dr. Şehnaz Şişmanoğlu Şimşek (2021-2022)

Dr. Şehnaz Şişmanoğlu Şimşek obtained her BA in Philosophy at Boğaziçi University, her MA in Turkish Literature at Bilkent University, and her PhD in Turkish Language and Literature at Boğaziçi University. She currently works as an assistant professor at Kadir Has University, where she also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Core Program and the Coordinator of Turkish Courses. Her primary research areas are 19th-century Karamanlidika literature, Ottoman-Greek culture and literature in the 19 th and early 20 th centuries, Ottoman minority literatures, serial novel, modern Turkish novel, rewriting and intertextuality in literature, gender, and theater studies.
